ALEKSANDRA KURZAK

OPERA

Agathe in DER FREISCHÜTZ - Opera Wrocław, October 2021

It is no coincidence that the Wrocław Opera chose 'Der Freischütz' to celebrate its 180th anniversary. It is the work of a 19th century German director of this theatre – Carl Maria von Weber. […] In Wrocław they have now decided to make it more modern and entrusted it to Cezary Tomaszewski, a director who likes to stage old operas in an original way. […] The highlight of the premiere was Aleksandra Kurzak as Agathe, whose hand Max tries to win, and in this role, she excellently combined stage temperament with lyrical vocal sincerity. […] The entire premiere cast deserves a special mention, because the careful selection of soloists is particularly important in operas to which modern theatre must give a new life. - Jacek Marczyński for Rzeczpospolita

Aleksandra Kurzak´s performance can only be described with superlatives. The soprano from Wrocław, with the status of an international star, was the main attraction and the strongest link in the cast of the show. As always, she was perfectly prepared for her new role and seemed to be torn by emotions in an ocean of feelings. She sang beautifully, sincerely and touchingly and played the role of Max’s innocent fiancée with great charm. - Magdalena Grzybowska for Opera Lovers
