Desdemona in OTELLO - Staatsoper Hamburg, June 2018
Desdemona’s performer, Aleksandra Kurzak, received a thunderous applause at the end of the show. Although it is difficult to judge her performance in the first two acts, she proves even more her talent in the fourth act. The sad song of the willow, in which she said goodbye to her friend Emilia, already dying, is literally breathtaking. So simple and yet so emotional, sung with sparkling intonation and also pianissimo with such an incredible expression, that it seems that all the listeners in the room were holding their breath, so as not to miss any sound. - Leonie Bünsch for Klassik begeistert
